Death Haunts The Living

I warn you, this is not a pretty piece of poetry; it is ugly and raw... and dark and painful.

Death Haunts The Living

Gurgling wetness
bubbling up from lungs
drowning
in mucus
smothering
Breath
Silencing your broken heart
Until
No more...

I will never forget

The dark time of the year is here... dark on so many levels. It's not just that Samhain is near, or that the days grow ever shorter as Winter nears, it is also the heartbreak of the encroaching holiday season, and 8 months of darkness of the soul...

Late September through April, every year since the end of 2012.

  1. I don't always use the word "visceral" to describe writing. Mostly because I think it's overused and too many times erroneously so. But... this is visceral. The sounds, the visuals, the gurgling...

    1. It plays in my head, that awful sound. It really does haunt me.
