I love how my Down Syndrome mini turned out! A blue and yellow ribbon symbolizes Down Syndrome awareness, and for the rest of the painting, creativity took over so I just let it flow. I chose not to add words; I think the painting itself does the talking. I have never worked with or known an adult with this disability, but from the experiences I've had with children, they are mostly happy, and show their happiness with big beautiful smiles and sparkling eyes.

Finished!
Love life
Courage
Joy
Strength
I wish I had better lighting and better pics, but I used my cellphone, and the lighting in my house is lacking. The colors just don't show as well as in the real deal. Oh well. I'm real happy with my little dragonfly though. He was a last minute addition and I was too chicken to attempt painting him directly onto the canvas so I cheated. I painted him on watercolor paper, cut him out, and Mod Podged him on :)
It's not too bad for my very first attempt at a mixed media piece, and my first time painting a sunflower and dragonfly. I had a bit of difficulty with my signature, darn it, so it's a bit sloppy. Hopefully with practice I'll improve, but what really matters is... I had fun doing it.

Mixed Media Weekend
So Friday it was pouring rain, and my artsy mood won over. It was a good day to get creative :)
I have plenty of watercolor and acrylic paint, but needed a some other things, so I took a trip to my local Walmart and picked up a few supplies:
Canvas (didn't want to use watercolor paper for this project)
Mod Podge
Stencil
Scrapbook paper
Sponges
Stamps
I've never done a mixed media piece before, nor have I ever attempted to paint a sunflower.
I began with freehanding an outline of the sunflower in pencil, then started painting it with watercolors, adding a bit of background as I went. I used salt in the wet paint to get that texture for the flower.
After it dried, I added more watercolor, drying in between, and then I added some decorative paper with mode podge, some stencils, stamps, lace, etc.

Nudie Part 2
I thought I would give a more explicit "nudie" a try today. It's been so long she gave me a bit of trouble, but here she is....
Nudie Per Request
About a month ago or so my friend Magaly asked me why I didn't post my nudes, and I had responded that I would have to do that someday. Well, today is that day; I'm sharing a "nudie" that I drew today. It's my first nude in a very long time, and I'm a bit out of practice.
Now... I have to tell you, I'm a little shy about sharing my art work, whether it's from the fear of criticism, or my feelings of inadequacy, probably a combination of the two, really. I have never thought my drawings, paintings, and crafts were good enough to share with the general public. OH, and please bear in mind that the photo quality isn't all that great because I don't have a scanner. I use my cell phone LOL. With all that being said and without further ado, here she is...

A Sampling of My Art Work
Recently, I was asked by Magaly (at Pagan Culture) why I don't share my drawings... specifically my "nudies". Well, unfortunately my nudes went away with my ex-boyfriend at the time several years ago, and honestly.. I haven't drawn any since. BUT I did find a sketch I did in 2010, so I thought I would share it for now. Hopefully I will be hit with some inspiration to draw some new "nudies" to share later :)
I haven't drawn in a long time... just haven't been in the mood, you know? I used to draw on an almost daily basis, I also used to make wood crafts, and sometimes I would watercolor. I don't know what happened that I suddenly just stopped.

Well.... here she is....
She is dancing with the Full Moon behind her, and magickal energies flowing out her hands...
I call this drawing, Moon Magick.

Here is a rock I painted last July to represent the Element Earth
