I chose an article was the tragic arctic disaster of the Terra Nova expedition of 1910-1913, which ended in the death of Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his party, who lost their lives to a blizzard in the South Pole.
Why on earth did I choose this article? I'm not entirely sure. I'm usually not a morbid person, honest! I'm undecided on if the story just grabbed my attention, or if it required less imagination than the other articles I found??? It does seem that the dark side wants to come through in my writing lately.
Anyhoo, I couldn't choose between a simple Haiku or a tad longer poem, so I did both, HA-HA!
Frozen Hell I
Endless frozen hell
Glacial temps sculpting carnage
Forever ice men, all
Frozen Hell II
Unyielding icy torture
A limitless cold so fierce
Food becomes scarce,
Starvation besieges
Tired, freezing,
Without rescue
Without rescue
Brave victims succumb
Welcoming death's slumber
They suffer no more
Both pieces are just fabulous!...and your definitely mixing with the right crew if you need to write dark thoughts :D XXX
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful, but the haiku was beautifully chilling, no pun intended
ReplyDeleteThese are both great! They bring the cold and harshness into clear focus.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing. I can see why anyone would choose the topic... the horror is gripping.
ReplyDeleteYour poems are both so powerful, surreal and epic... in words, feelings and the visions they conjure for me..it is as though you have eerily been able to pluck out the experience first hand.
